The Nutcracker Lecture Demonstrations:
NPD presents a condensed version of this main stage production to 3rd graders from the public school systems, private schools and home school programs in the greater Bismarck area. Dance professional discuss many aspects of dance and the theatre in a friendly, nonthreatening way, encouraging students to ask questions.
Northern Plains Dance Experience:
Northern Plains Dance Experience is a two-week, residential summer program, designed to nurture the growth of young dancers from the Great Plains region. For two weeks, students immerse themselves in a variety of dance forms, concentrating on technique, artistry, musicality, and expression. Outstanding faculty from all over the nation inspire participants to develop new skills and achieve greater self-confidence.
Story-time Ballet Program:
Northern Plains Dance choreographs and presents narrated fairy tale ballets for pre-kindergarten and elementary-aged children. These story ballets, danced by members of the apprentice and trainee companies, provide early art education in an entertaining and easy-to-follow format in libraries, schools, and other public venues throughout central North Dakota.
Discover Dance Scholarship Program:
Each year, Northern Plains Dance provides partial scholarships to a minimum of four students enrolled in the Academy. With your help, Northern Plains Dance will be able to increase the number of scholarships, both partial and full, to low-income and at-risk children in the Bismarck-Mandan community. In addition, Northern Plains Dance provided tickets, free of charge, to at risk and underpriviledged children in the community through partnerships with organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters and Charles Hall Youth Services.
